my people
You’ve been given a My People card.
If you’re curious enter the code and your email below.
If the person who gave you this card also enters the same code you’ll be connected by email.
If not, nothing happens.
What is My People?
My people is a structured way of acknowledging affinity between strangers in public spaces.
It might also be
A social protocol
A public ritual
A recognition framework
An interaction structure
Sometimes in public you recognise a kinship with someone. Or maybe just some great shoes.
You do not know them.
You do not want anything from them.
You simply feel it.
My people is a way of acknowledging that feeling without demand.
Nothing is required. No response expected.
My People begins with noticing.
Before any gesture, there is attention.
In most public spaces we are trained not to notice. We move efficiently. We protect ourselves with indifference. Affinity is suppressed in favour of safety and speed.
My People interrupts that habit.
It is not networking.
It is not flirting.
It is not friendliness as strategy.
It is not an attempt to secure contact.
It is a small, structured permission to acknowledge recognition without demand.
The sequence is simple.
Attention.
Recognition.
Signal.
Release.
The moment is complete as soon as it is given.
Nothing is required. No response is expected. If something continues later, it continues by independent choice. If it does not, the recognition still mattered.
My People restores permission to perceive.
Affinity does not have to lead anywhere to be real.
The moment is already complete and enough.
To participate, carry a card, or two (depending on how much you notice).
`Design your own.
Include a simple code. Four letters and two numbers is sufficient.
Give the card when you notice something you like.
Release it.
